Autumn Feativals in Gyeonggi-do Ⅲ


#1. Chrysanthemum Exhibition in the Garden of Morning Calm

The Garden of Morning Calm which is famous as a site for weekend getaway is holding a chrysanthemum exhibition. A flower that matches well with cool autumn breezes will be chrysanthemum! As the garden is located in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do which is near Seoul, visitors can feel romantic autumn being surrounded by splendid flowers by one hour’s ride from Seoul. Chrysanthemums blossomed in the midst of colorful autumn foliage seem to be glittering as it they were capturing the moment of deepening autumn season.

This exhibition displays special artwork shaped in white heron under the theme of the feast of herons which fly in beautiful nature. It will provide various things to see along with exhibitions of approximately 140 large flowered chrysanthemums and various shapes of chrysanthemum artwork, as well as photo zones.

#2. Hwaseong Haetsaldri Festival

Hwaseong Haetsaldri Festival is an event to provide a communication venue between farmers and consumers and to improve the recognition of 『Haetsaldri』, the best agricultural brand. For the gimjang (kimchi-making for the winter), consumers can purchase kimchi ingredients at reasonable prices here.

#3. Empress Myeongseong Commemorative Festival

Empress Myeongseong Commemorative Festival, held on November 17 every year in celebration of her birthday, aims to offer solace to the spirit of Empress Myeongseong and shed light on her achievements to correct the distorted perception about her. Visitors will be able to experience Korean traditional culture and restore national pride during the festival.

#4. Paju Jangdan Soybean Festival

Paju Jangdankong (Paju Jangdan Soybean) is the well-known soybeans that have been produced in Jangdankong Village, Paju since olden times. “Jangdan Baengmok” which is a species promoted by the Korean government in 1913, was selected as local soybeans after the process of collection, pure line selection and separation.

The Paju Jangdan Soybean Festival which is held in the vicinity of Imjingak in Paju is an event where visitors can enjoy delicious food and purchase good quality specialty produce at reasonable prices. It offers many things to see and eat and Imjingak has various rides for visitors to enjoy, so it is a perfect festival to visit on weekend.
